Articol tradus cu picioarele.

BMW has announced a worldwide recall of around 1.3 million 5- and 6-Series vehicles built between 2003 and 2010, because of a problem with a battery cable cover that could lead to some unpleasant results.

According to the AP, the problem is that a battery cable covering in the trunk was installed incorrectly. It could cause the electrical system to malfunction, resulting in the engine failing to start and, in rare cases, the potential for fire.

The company says it knows of nine cases where the defect has been found, but isn't aware of any accidents or injuries related to the recall.

As of right now, it's unknown how many of the 1.3 million vehicles are on the road in the U.S., but BMW says approximately 290,000 of the recalled cars are in Germany.

The car maker will fix the problem for free at authorized dealers. It says the repair should only take about 30 minutes to complete.

Bine zis.

Ei zic pe site-ul oficial asa: "In some remote cases, the battery cable cover inside the boot of these vehicles may be incorrectly mounted."

Still...could be worse :pirate:!

Din comunicatul de presa:

Vehicle owners will be notified in writing. Affected vehicles will remain at the respective BMW Partner repair workshop for approximately 30 minutes, the service, of course, being free of charge to the customer.
